Class Exercise 1A

Creativity Booster Device - X Factor Brush

Design Process

When given the task to design a device that will boost creativity by a whooping 100x, I actually thought of some futuristic hat device that taps into my neuro-network and by some technological means enable my creativity to increase. However, I felt that it was not creative enough.

Why Brush?

Then, I remembered what I used to like about art as a kid. Even until this age, I enjoy painting (although I hardly have the time now). I love mixing colours on a palette and spreading them on the canvas with a brush. I loved colours - so much I wished I could eat them (haha!). Hence, I thought of a wonder brush that could magically boost my creative juices. By the way, I named it "X-Factor" because tutors were mentioning about x-factors in class..so I thought..might as well.

How It Works

  • Whenever in my possession, X-Factor Brush is connected to my brain's neuro-circuits (2-way brush-and-brain communication with the help of embedded chips) - of course it means inserting a chip into my own body *ouch*
  • X-Factor Brush will then be able to enhance my creativity by increasing activity in the portion of my brain that is more responsible for creativity (e.g. visual lobes, spatial identification etc.)
  • With technological advancements, X-Factor Brush will be able to identify if the owner (which is me) is nearby through GPS (remember the embedded chips?), hence allowing owner-recognition
  • X-Factor Brush is battery powered (with rechargeable battery and the ability to recharge using solar energy)
  • X-Factor Brush operates best when being hand in my hand because of direct contact (boosts creativity up to 120x).
  • Within a 1m radius, X-Factor brush can help to boost creativity up to 100x. Hence, even placing it into my pocket can allow a boost too!
  • Creativity is boosted only when X-Factor is operational and within 1m radius of owner (so as to prevent theft).
